Hockey Weekend Across America

This coming weekend, February 15th-17th, will mark the first ever "Hockey Weekend Across America". The event, which is sponsored by USA Hockey, will include events around the country as well as daily themes over the weekend. Similar to "Hockey Day in Canada", which took place this past weekend in Winkler, Manitoba, HWAA has the following objectives:
1. To celebrate our game and all involved in the sport throughout the nation using all means possible.
2. Provide opportunities for those who haven't played hockey to try it, resulting ultimately in more people playing our game at all levels.

February 15th is "Wear Your Jersey to School Day", the 16th is "Bring a Friend to the Rink Day", and the 17th is "Celebrate Local Hockey Heroes Day". In addition the website for HWAA and USA Hockey will be giving prizes through various contests.

In addition this Saturday is "Hockey Day in Michigan" with events up and down the mitten and the UP.

So, remember, wear your jersey to school on Friday...and try to get to one of your local events if possible. And for those of us out of school, I guess we should wear our jerseys to work on Friday...
